About The Albums

These albums were not exactly what I had originally intended to record. But thanks to the creative forces of Danny Schogger and Olivier Behzadi, we started throwing ideas around, and came up with a set of songs that, I am happy to say, is “me”. We recorded many songs and it may come as no surprise that it was impossible to cut the tracklisting down to one album. So I decided that we should create two! No More Numbers, and 1870.

My Debut albums have been a long time coming. It is hard to believe that just a few years ago I was a number crunching accountant before totally turning my life upside down and taking the huge risk of becoming a singer – thus the Title –”No More Numbers”. It has been a remarkable journey for me coming from a small town in South Africa to Buckingham Palace where last year I performed for, and was presented to, the Queen. The cover of the No More Numbers Album tells the story of one of many unique experiences of my journey – I arrived at Buckingham Palace and realized I hadn’t brought my smart shoes for the performance. I raced to the nearest store, which happened to be in Pall Mall, where in one minute I purchased the first pair of shoes I could find, which unfortunately happened to be the most expensive and flashy pair of shoes I had ever seen.

The songs on these albums have a common thread – hauntingly beautiful melodies which tug at the heart and awaken the soul. They are timeless and all made a strong impression on me the first time I heard them. Whether it be the beautiful Italian, Neapolitan or Liturgical songs, I can’t help but feel in awe of the genius of the people who composed them.
